Paeonia ‘Shirley Temple’ – 3 litre pot
Otter Price: £16.99
The Paeonia ‘Shirley Temple’ is a stunning herbaceous perennial plant that grows up to 80cm in height. Its dark green foliage is intricately divided, providing a striking contrast to the plant’s magnificent blooms. The fragrant flowers have an exquisite rose-pink colour that gradually fades to a delicate buff-white hue. Their beauty and fragrance make them a popular choice if you’re seeking to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your outdoor spaces.
Care instructions:
– For best results, plant pot-grown Peonies in the spring when the soil is no longer frozen. Peonies prefer full sun exposure, except in the South and the warmest parts of the West, where providing afternoon shade is appreciated as it helps the flowers last longer on the plant.
– Keeping the plants in a container is possible; use large and deep containers to prevent root freezing during winter. Ensure the containers have drainage holes in the bottom, as planting in small containers can lead to root-bound plants. To keep the plants looking fresh, divide the clumps every 2 to 3 years.
– Adequate watering is essential after planting, and the soil should be kept consistently moist to ensure the plant establishes well.
– To maintain the plant’s appearance, remove faded peony flowers by cutting the stem to a strong leaf without leaving it sticking out of the foliage.
– In the autumn, cut the foliage to the ground to prevent overwintering diseases.
