Phormium ‘Pink Panther’ – 2 litre pot
Otter Price: £14.99
Phormium ‘Pink Panther’ is an evergreen perennial that forms a clump of gracefully arching, strap-like leaves in a vibrant shade of bright pink and is adorned with reddish-green edges. This cultivar can reach a height and spread of up to 85 cm. While its primary appeal lies in its striking foliage, ‘Pink Panther’ occasionally surprises with the emergence of tall spikes bearing red flowers during the summer months.
Care instructions:
– Avoid planting directly in the frozen soil.
– Container planting is possible throughout the year; use containers that are large and deep enough to prevent roots from freezing in the winter and ensure there are drainage holes in the bottom of the container. Planting in small containers will lead to plants becoming rootbound.
– Water well after planting. Water well in dry weather. Avoid waterlogged conditions in winter. Established plants can cope with dry conditions well. If planted in containers, water regularly.
– Feed in the first year after planting with balanced feed. Established plants do not require regular feeding.
– In the spring, remove the dead and damaged leaves from the foliage. Avoid hard pruning.
– To maintain the plant’s appearance, remove faded flowers by cutting the stem to a strong leaf without leaving it sticking out of the foliage.
– Divide the plant every 3-4 years or when it becomes too large for the designated area.
