Every year, experts and breeders choose their ‘Rose of the Year’ and these roses have to be very special to make the grade. In recent years, there’s been a trend for soft apricot tones and light, fresh scents – a versatile combination.

The Rose of the Year 2022 has frosty peach-pink blooms that keep appearing for many weeks. The judges loved its upright shape, its delicate scent, and its long-lasting flowers – ideal for romantic mixed borders and summer patio containers. (H:1m)

Belle de Jour Rose of the Year 2021

Belle de Jour

The 2021 Rose of they Year brings a ray of sunshine to borders and patio pots, with its frilled golden-yellow petals and intense fruity-vanilla fragrance. The long-lasting blooms make fantastic cut flowers, and it can even be grown as a low hedge. (H: 1.2m)

Sweet Honey

In a tough year, the 2020 Rose of the Year was a welcome highlight. A classic double bloom in mellow apricot, it has strong bushy growth and an appealing fruity fragrance. Perfect for containers, hedging, boarders and cut flowers. (H: 1m)

Hot-pink blooms create a fashionable pop of colour throughout the summer. Plant at the front of the border or in a pot to appreciate its compact shape and fresh scent.

TOP TIP

Once established, keep your new rose looking its best with specialist rose feed sprinkled around the base in spring and mid-summer, a thick mulch of compost in autumn to suppress weeds, and regular dead-heading of faded flowers. This should keep your roses flowering beautifully.
