Good Luck Hannah!
In the early hours of Friday September 3, everyone at Otter will be sending positive thoughts to team member Hannah Taunton, who is competing in the T20 1500m event at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
Hannah flew out a few weeks ago to get acclimatized to the conditions in Japan and has now moved into the Olympic village.
Last year, she set the women’s T20 5000 metres world record at the British Athletics Championships in Manchester, and recently represented GB in Poland at the Para European Championships.
Manager of Otter’s Taunton branch, Rob Brooks said that all Hannah’s colleagues are very supportive of her. “We are so proud to have a Paralympian on our team. We wish Hannah the very best of luck.”
Hannah’s mum, Gill Taunton added; “As a family we are thrilled that Hannah has this amazing opportunity. She has trained very hard and is passionate about her running. She is an inspiration to many, especially those who have a disability.”
As Tokyo is eight hours ahead, the race will be taking place in the early hours of Friday morning at 2.26 a.m.
If you’re awake at that time, why not watch the event and cheer Hannah on. Good luck Hannah, from us all!
